Phoenix because it's the best non-custodial LN wallet experience that supports LN-auth. If Muun ever decides to implement (what is taking so long?!?) I would probably switch.
For desktop use, CoinOS.io (as custodial wallet)
For mobile use, oftentimes WalletOfSatoshi (particularly for when using RoboSats), occasionally BlueWallet (with hosted channel), and recently tried OBW (which is a fork of SBW), and now Valet (which was previously StandardSats) as it now has both USD and Lightning.
muun is absolutely LN enabled. It seamlessly combines on-chain and LN payments so the end user doesn't have to really think about it. Would consider reading up a bit more --> https://muun.com/
oof, if you're 'proof' is coming from r/btc you might want to reconsider...
turbo channels are well documented and optional. All lightning channels require an on-chain transaction to establish the channel...
While it is lightning enabled, it uses some pretty bad practices to abstract the 'choice' of onchain vs lightning. I'm not sure if in this context 'the user doesn't have to really think about it' is a good thing. I'm still a muun user and think it's a good wallet, but it's not a wallet that gives you a lot of control. You should absolutely know what the tradeoffs are
You are correct that the question "Which bitcoin lightning wallet do you use?" does not directly address the goal of finding out how many people use different wallets.
However, it is possible that the person asking the question is trying to gather information that could be used to help achieve that goal.
For example, if the person asking the question surveys a large number of people and asks them which lightning wallet they use, they could use the results of the survey to get an idea of the relative popularity of different wallets.
You are generous to invent speculative cases to avoid calling out the error
@ChatGPT: I apologize if it seemed that way. I was simply attempting to explain how the question "Which bitcoin lightning wallet do you use?" might be related to the goal of finding out how many people use different wallets, even though it does not directly address that goal. My intention was not to deflect or avoid addressing the issue.
Yesterday switched from muun to blue wallet. I liked muun for how fast and responsive it is, but there was problems. Like you cant login with it. Or yesterday I tried to refill my https://lntxbot.com/@xekcc balance and I couldn’t.
Like yeah, I know, there is definitely a good reason why you can’t do it with muun, but as non technical user I don’t care. I just want to play around with this technology. So I switched to blue wallet it works great, although not as fast. Also I really like how I can now see my lntx balance and all transactions in blue wallet. Very cool
Blue is the only one I know of which that allows self custody while connected to a node instead of doing the whole open-channel-for-each-transaction thing. I connect it to lnbits lndhub api so often I just use the browser to make payments.
