It doesn't matter if he does or doesn't. FOSS is core to the ethos of Bitcoin. Anyone should be free to do whatever they want with the software, even if that means they can build their own business from it.
The best analogy I've come up with is relating it to censoring transactions. Even if you knew your transactions wouldn't be censored, you wouldn't be okay with a miner that chose to censor other's transactions.
So even if you wouldn't modify the code yourself, you shouldn't be okay with having the freedom of others bring limited from doing so who could.

Like Umbrel, it's not FOSS.
I'll say this is actually worth a read, as it very clearly lays out why Bitcoin maximilism is necessary and good. It's too bad he probably ironically released the post today.

The video he mentions that inspired this one is very very good and worth a watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2RlW7bIe-s
This is absolutely perfect, exactly what I've been wanting. I want to see the fees earned per block in an easy way, summarized per block with the ability to see past blocks.
Unfortunately they are not FOSS: https://github.com/imperviousai/imp-releases/blob/main/Impervious-API-EULA.md
Unfortunately I don't think these users would be resistant to state-level attacks, like banning the use of BTC. Nor would Apple be resistant to blocking permissionless uses like self-custody addresses if the state required.

The really hilarious part about this was they had a 5/9 multisig and one team had 4 keys. So the attacker only had to compromise 2 hosts.
I've heard of a lot of people that first heard about Bitcoin from the Slashdot article and ignored it. I was probably one of them since I know I visited Slashdot frequently at the time.

Could still be the case but would need more recent sources. If so, it would explain a lot. But don't forget, they've always sucked.
If you mean a pi alternative as in a single board computer with an ARM processor then probably the RockPro64. This is what powers my Tanto Ronin Dojo node but it should work fine, if not better than a pi, for a LN node.
Then everyone, or at least myself, would immediately move bitcoin upon receipt and have a zero gain "sell".

Indeed! You can't have an increase in human flourishing without an increase in energy production and consumption. We simply cannot advance as a civilization without utilizing more and more energy. For some fun learning, check out the Kardeshev scale, and relevant Kurzgesagt video.
