You mean the podcaster?
I don't know. Just some guy by the looks of it giving his opinion on things?
But the WSJ have covered the recent purge of the top Chinese military and their analysis of it seems credible.

https://www.wsj.com/world/china/xi-jinping-is-stripping-down-his-military-command-and-starting-over-2e747c07

https://archive.ph/NrO6Y

'In purging his top generals, Chinese leader Xi Jinping put the command of the armed forces in the hands of one man—himself. Now, his vision alone will decide the course of Beijing’s looming confrontation with Taiwan.

The arrest of Gen. Zhang Youxia, a close ally and childhood friend the Chinese leader called “big brother,” removes any internal authoritative voices who could slow Xi’s hand in any move against Taiwan, the democratic, self-governing island that Beijing claims as part of its territory.

The timing is critical. The Chinese military is racing toward a 2027 deadline Xi has set for “modernization,” often interpreted as readiness for a Taiwan contingency.

A near-term invasion of Taiwan, though, is now less likely, said foreign-policy and military analysts, now that Xi has purged five of the six senior generals that he had handpicked to lead the military just three years ago. Xi is pivoting to a campaign designed to break Taipei’s resolve without firing a shot, these analysts said.

Beijing will increasingly lean on tactics that fall just below the threshold of open conflict, the analysts said. This includes relentless exercises intended to simulate a maritime and air blockade of Taiwan, displaying the blunt force behind Beijing’s psychological offensive.'

The WSJ analysis rings true to me- I think China want to take Taiwan without using force- such a takeover would be far more powerful in terms of the end result.
My guess is it will be negotiated in the next few years without much if any bloodshed.

Even though I have been thoroughly disillusioned by the Bitcoin community over the past few years (note to self: have no expectations), I’m still of the opinion that in a world of statists, satanists, conformists, liars, cowards, morons and scammers, the Bitcoin community has potentially the lowest percentage of the aforementioned types and probably the highest percentage of freedom-oriented, truth-seeking, optimistic innovators, artists and entrepreneurs.

As such, I will continue putting my proverbial eggs in that basket and continue searching for my tribe predominantly from within the ranks of bitcoiners.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Onward. 🫡

My computer's PSU blew out. Node offline. Dunno if gonna be able to restore, or how long it'll take. Highlights the risk and technical challenges of self hosting.

reply

Sorry to hear that.
Funny enough, I noticed my Alby hub went offline last night (not my node though), and I'm not around to debug, so no sats from me either :/

In the meantime, guess I'm a CC zapper!!

But it's pretty cool that I still have some sats on my Wallet of Satoshi on my phone, which let me buy enough CCs to tide me over till I can get that PSU fixed.

I tend to chirp when Ocean goes on a hot streak, so I need to be even handed and mention that they haven't hit a block since January 30. I think this is the longest drought I have seen since I joined the pool.

reply

I was for a moment worried that there would be stales, but no. The good news is that at 10EH, the "TIDES" window in which your shares count is like 4 days or so, so at least you've not lost work, yet. You need a block within a day or so though or some shares may go unpaid (which is shitty if you had a luck streak with those shares)

reply

I have noticed this too the last few days . . . wondered if there's any reason for it but seems its just the odds and this is a bad streak.
Since going on Ocean I enjoy the more random sense of the odds and it feels a bit more like real mining than it did on Braiins.
I seem to get a little more in payouts too but hard to be sure as there's not a lot in it.

reply
luck streak

is this a technical thing or just a figure of speech?

I know I can just ask AI, but I prefer to zap Opti for an answer :-)

reply
88 sats \ 1 reply \ @optimism 4 Feb

It's a technical thing. Even though difficulty has a statistical distribution, the actual brute-forcing of hashes has a luck factor. This is what causes variation in block time

reply

Makes sense.

Let's see another exercise... for stackers

Epstein files were released long before you were born... maybe your mother remember it.

let's see who really understand this meme

reply

that looks like an image to me, what about it is memed

reply

In the 50-60s there are many campaigns about how good is DDT. This is serious, please research it. And they start fumigating the streets with DDT, that is highly toxic and affect the brain.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDT

My meme explanation: if your mother was a young lady in those times and she was fumigated with DDT, then there are high chances that you, nowadays, will not be able to think critically about all its happening, your brain was damaged before you even were born.

And this wasn't a joke, it was a plan organized by the same state people nowadays are praising...

This is the only explanation why so many people now are fighting each others because what was "released" in Epstein files. Literally they lost their mind into a manipulation.

That image is real, please reverse google it.

Another aspect that many people still do not get it and was a warning in public by Yuri Bezmenov:

Full interview here, very eye opening:

I literally saw someone post that Epstein shared an article with someone and this person is trying to discredit the author of the article because Epstein shared it.

Far too many Stackers and Bitcoiners have lost the plot. They are getting obsessed with conspiracy theories that don't matter. Why don't they matter? Because they should and do already know the state is evil and politicians are lizard reptilians that should never be trusted.

Did Israel kill Kirk or was it a Woke nut case? Was it Turning Point USA? Does this change anything for anyone? Nothing is changing except people are being distracted and turned against one another. Forgetting who the real enemy is. It isn't your brother-in-law that doesn't like Trump. Or your sister-in-law who loves Trump. Its the state and its boot. Its the banksters and their wars that never end. Its the fiat money printer that creates a world of debt slavery.

The ICE agents are foot soldiers. The protesters are pawns being sacrificed to win an election. The masses are being abused and manipulated every day. Bitcoiners should know better but apparently they aren't much better.

reply

Great points!

We are seeing the classic divide and concur strategy in real time.

If anyone thinks a politician that claims to represent you has more in common with you than the guy down the street... you've been duped. The last thing these leeches want is the plebs getting along with each other.

The influencer class also seems to be incapable of rational thought. They are simply obsessed with clicks and when they don't get them from content about things that they are completely opposed to they switch over to shooting their allies. Its absurd to watch this. The right is quickly killing each other rhetorically for no reason other than to keep the plebs from uniting on common ground.

reply
208 sats \ 0 replies \ @kepford 3 Feb

People arguing about who killed Epstein. Who killed Charlie Kirk. Was Trump's assassination staged or real. What does it change if you are correct? If you are correct and I believe you it changes nothing for me. I already know what I know and all of these things change nothing. They are however great distractions. Take the red pill. But once you have... you don't need to keep taking them. Focus on what you can do to insulate yourself from the organized crime families called political parties, governments, and political dynasties. Maybe position yourself accordingly. Become more resilient to the civil war we are in the middle of. You are not gonna convince the masses that whatever conspiracy is true. Even when the masses are shown the truth what changes? Not much. Look at Epstein. Look at Snowden. Look at the Panama Papers. Look at Covid. Did your neighbor change anything in their lives? Did you?

SO.. this comment thread I'm in is also a distraction... So this is it. The end.

reply

It very well could be the point. I still say no one will pay for what was done. I don't believe politicians.

Just watched a video of a local politician speak...

I was struck by how fake he sounds. He's not even talking about anything divisive. The fakeness is just dripping off of him. And people believe in these clowns.

This is their Ocean account. I think they moved away.

Also, Peak Mining, another large miner account on Ocean, seems to have been offline for 3 days, but is back now (edit: correction, about half of their hashpower was offline, they have multiple accounts)

reply

Fascinating. Looking at Peak's chart makes me wonder what could cause their hundreds of petahash to drop to zero. I would think that if they were doing demand response curtailment, they might taper down, not drop off completely.

I'm not sure how these contracts are structured nowadays.

A question for stackers.
SN falls under:

  1. free speech
  2. freedom of speech
reply

Pay to post

reply
100 sats \ 0 replies \ @Lux 3 Feb

its freedom to speak

man has freedom
person has rights

the freedom gets taken by giving us rights trough a person

reply

speech has become a way for the ancient parasite to propagate itself thru utterances by mouth of hosts; theoretically, complete elimination of the parasite wud also eliminate the urge to verbally discharge the parasite spores, especially thru enunciation of consonants; consider the idea "freedom from speech;"

#1425488

communication in general is limitless, encompassing text, signage, speech, dance, and even telepathy;

SN is a technological tool - maintaining flexibility among various communication methods & platforms preserves the ability to resist total control by the parasite hivemind;

ultimately, the open-source permissionless systems shud be used for verification & reliability of message transmission;

reply

Neither

reply
33 sats \ 10 replies \ @snail 3 Feb

How I would typically interpret those statements,

Free Speech = Something you "do"; an action you perform directly or via technology

Freedom of Speech = A "right" or "law"; something your society permits you to do without enforcing property seizure / violence / etc.

So I'd say SN is option #1, it's a technology I use to post regardless of if it's "legal" (#2) in my jurisdiction or not.

__@_'-'

reply

you are close...
free speech = you are allowed to speak, is a permission that is free, not paid, gratis.
freedom of speech = is a right that nobody can take it from you, maybe only forcibly

In this particular case SN fall for almost none of them because YOU PAY TO SPEAK and you fall for their T&C. You signed a contract.

reply
100 sats \ 2 replies \ @kepford 3 Feb

I'd say since I don't control the server I have only to trust the man who does to honor the T&C. No one can take away my freedom to speak but myself by keeping my mouth shut.

I have said for decades that if people want to say something unpopular they should get their own site and publish it. Don't beg the state to use force to make someone publish your ideas.

reply

yep, this remember me the beginning of blogging on internet...

Many times I talked people out of having comments on their blogs...

I would warn them of the hassle they would deal with. Some listened. Others had to learn their lessons the hard way.

My response to them was always. If people want to respond to your press release or blog post... let them get their own web site and link back to yours.

There are laws and rights and there is power and control. These days people seem to live in a lala land where they have forgotten about power and control. They have forgotten they traded their liberty for a little peace and security.

reply

I said none of them, damn it! From your response, it sounded like I was wrong!

reply

but you didn't explained why.

reply

that's why you will never really understand how this fucked up world function...
This was just a test, an exercise.

reply

Don't exaggerate!

I dunno! Some territories are moderated, so I’m not sure if they can nuking posts and comments.

reply

it's a very simple question. Is not about what SN could do. Is about how do you see it: 1 or 2

reply

You can tell from my answer it's neither of them!

reply

that means you do not know the difference between 1 and 2. You have much to learn. You are not ready.

reply

I don't get how you're seeing it like that. To me, 'freedom' is more about gov laws, like, it's a legal thing.

Quantum Parasitology:

the term is better understood as Quantum-of-Parasites -ology: the study of the effects of parasites on the population, whether it's men or any other living species; the more numerous & more widely distributed the parasites - the worse off the population; infestation on the microscopic scale mirrors the species' behaviors and the greater macroscopic population dynamics;
