As a kid I was really interested in conspiracy theories. It was the 80s-90s and the world was very different. Now I need new ones since most I believed in have come true lol. I often call myself a conspiracy therapist(Stolen from Adam Curry).

I find many people are either believers in all conspiracy theories(gullible) or think anything that is a conspiracy theory is crazy(also gullible). I used to tell people about government programs and get them to call it a crazy conspiracy theory. Then I'd show they the documents from the gov admitting to the actions. It was entertaining.

My favorite example of this was when Edward Snowden exposed the NSA accepting an apology from a co-worker. You were right Bob! I bet many here experienced that.

So, where are you. What do you believe and not believe.

One Theory I Believe:

The JFK assassination investigation was a cover up. I don't pretend to know what happened but it is obvious that the government was not interested in digging to get the truth. Instead they wanted to take control and move on.

One Theory I Do Not Believe

The moon landing was faked. I don't buy it. Its not that I don't buy the US would lie and try to fool the world. I just don't buy that they were capable to doing this at that time. It seems to me that it would have come out by now, that there would be much more evidence proving it a fake.

I won't say I believe the CIA did it but I think at least they know who did it.

I really think anyone who can't name one they don't believe needs to check their gullibility.

Same goes for anyone that doesn't believe any of them. What I used to tell people like that is many things were theory until they were exposed. Watergate is a great example.

I also remember during the Covid times people I knew that didn't buy what the government was telling them but then they'd believe some random dude on social media obviously shilling a product and spewing non-sense. And I'm not talking about the many doctors or people with evidence behind them. I'm talking about the real crackpots.

I have a theory that US citizens have had it so good that we have far to much trust in government and other people. Most of the people I know that came out of oppressed nations do not share this attribute. They seem to be far more skeptical of authority and people trying to scam them.

I agree completely. I do notice a change regarding U.S. citizens trusting the government. Regular middle of the road folks I know don't accept things at face value post covid. Even mask and vax democratic friends have changed. They saw the man behind the curtain once too often.

Yeah, I really have no time for elites that complain about the public's loss of confidence. They want to blame conspiracy theorists for this and "fake news" but really the media and "establishment" absolutely destroyed their credibility over the past few years. Anyone who paid attention during the last 3 years and didn't see at least some deception on the part of media and government is hopeless. There are different levels of skepticism but institutions in not only government but also medicine lied to the masses. They may tell themselves they did it for the right reasons but one day when an even worse situation comes along people will not listen. And maybe when that happens they should listen. Its the old boy that cried wolf. You can only yell that everything is a world ending catastrophe so many times before it loses its weight.

I remember being surprised at how little changed after Snowden's revelations. It taught me something. Most people just do not care. They just want to carry on believing their fantasy. Trusting in institutions. It seems the response to Covid changed that for many. In my view, the elites let the mask slip a bit to much. At a minimum a lot of evil people know how much nonsense they can get away with now.

I was just talking about the boy who cried wolf aspect the other day. They created a dangerous loss of confidence. Snowden- now there was a real eye opener for me. Many of my friends were furious at him for being a traitor. They bought the smoke screen. No matter how many times I tried to discuss the revelations, no one cared.

Yeah, I have friends with the same view on Snowden. I would point out that the people that are supposed to hold these agencies accountable (Senators) failed to do their jobs as well as the law not being equally enforced on the actors in these agencies.

Its quiet ironic to me with people I know that claim to hate Communism how OK they are with the US building something far more powerful than the KGB in our "free country". At what point do you say I'm not OK with this? We "defeated" Communism just to create our own slave nation. Its absurd.

I think it is just physiologically hard to admit you've been duped. Or that something so fundamental to your beliefs has been a lie. Some of us are wired to handle this better than others. Denial is a very common response.

One theory I believe

The two main political parties in the United States of America, private organizations beholden to its corporate structure, captured the government long ago, and has since also captured the election system. They work in collusion, as organizations, to continue their duopoly upon the most powerful nation on the planet. WWIII started decades ago, maybe with the war on terror, and the two parties are terrified they will lose their stranglehold on world hegemony with what seems like continued failures in every country we regime change to save them from oppression.

I don't know what you mean by "people" here. This may be true for the Jews or poorly educated/ignorant Christians, but no Christian that is highly conscious of their religion actually takes anything in the Old Testament as literal truth. It is the mythology of Christian faith. Like most myths, probably rooted in anectodes or other (often "pagan") legends but often wildly exaggerated. Meant as a teaching, not account of history.

I know many Christians who believe in a literal interpretation of the stories of the old testament. Most of them think more about Adam and Eve in the garden of eden than the implications of Moses coming down from the mountain with the ten commandments, but they exist and they are many.

Believing all vaccines are bad is pretty rare. That's a psyop to squash dissenting voices. Vaccines like all treatments/medicines have tradeoffs as well as side effects. When you hear people saying you are anti-vax because you don't want to take one or more of them that's like saying someone that is opposed to eating bad food is anti-food. These are people that do not think.

A parallel to anti-vax slur is isolationist. If you are opposed to the war state you are an isolationist. Even if you favor free trade with all nations and people. People that use these slurs expose their ignorance of thoughts outside of the narrow band of acceptable opinions. I'm always underwhelmed by people like this. People like Ben Shapiro. What's even more underwhelming is people that act like Shapiro is some extremist when he's really a rather boring Republican talking head that owns inexperienced college progressives in their twenties.

Yeah the 9/11 investigation was a joke. Clearly they were covering up something. I am not convinced it was an inside job but just like JFK the investigation was designed to construct a believable narrative that preserved the illusion of our system. That is always the case though. If you expect justice from these institutions you do not understand incentives.

What I find more interesting about 9/11 is how it was used as the pretext to do a bunch of stuff many in power wanted to do already. You see this with Covid as well. Never let a crisis go to waste.

I've never considered 911 an "inside job," however, I do believe Intelligence agencies knew about it in advance and allowed it happen. At a minimum the "healthcare industry" is focused on "treatment" not solutions. Pharma has no interest in nutrition. Personally my rational position is that humans have eaten meat for thousands of years. Vegetables as well but most populations ate mostly meat before the development of cities. And what have we seen in the last 100 years? A bunch of chemical companies creating lab based foods to save money and "feed the world".

I know to many people that have went off of factory food and saw huge benefits to make me believe that nutrition is not a huge issue for the world. Sugar as well as fake sugars are probably one of the worst things for our health. It sure isn't meat. I will grant that factor farms raising animals are inhuman and that meat has issues but I would rather eat that than the chemical crap most people eat.

If that would be the case, this logic would also apply to meat. Animals/meat do not want to be 'eaten'. So they also would deploy those defensive strategies.

Mutations are random and blind. There is no higher-level planning like "I develop inflammatory inducing stuff so I won't get eaten'. If crops are planted/tended by humans there is no evolutionary pressure to develop poisonous response.

Now, I do not agree that humans should only eat plants. Can you survive? Sure. I'm no expert though. Avoiding meat for health makes no sense to me. Avoiding processed "foods" and sugar does. Meat eating animals have smaller intestines.

Human digestive tract is longer than of a pure carnivorous animals, that's for sure. But, humans do not have it as long as vegetarian animals, especially not like something like a cow, with 3 stomach chamber's. The meat, fruits, and nuts diet for humans makes sense. We have hundreds of studies that prove vegetables are the best way to live healthy and longer and meat that sits in our “long intestines” is a direct contributor to many diseases, inflammation and obesity.

Arnold swartzanager(can’t spell name) did a documentary on body builders who use plant based protein and the effects are better and longer lasting than those that eat meat - and also have to take supplements because meat isn’t enough (it is a secondary form of protein after all)

agree on fruit and honey, not sure about meat and veggies yet, but I did come across something saying like vegetables are poison, e.g. the tomatoes we eat all the time; I've read different books saying opposite opinions, but I feel like maybe is about balance? but then it also could depend on where you live and cultural habits, as our body is so adaptable.

Have you ever heard of a conspiracy theory that humans used to be Breatharians? then slowly start to drink, and then eat fruit& nuts, food was only for pleasure, but as time went by eating became a habit.

I'm eating a lot fewer veggies and fruits, far more meat and eggs, and I feel much more energetic, very noticeable. I'm inching my way, potentially, into the carnivore diet. I'm also immersing myself in some of the contrarian books on the topic.

For a takedown of veggie "superfoods", you might find the book Toxic Superfoods interesting. Quick summary - oxalates (and other compounds in plants) can cause serious health issues over time, and acute health issues for some people. This is especially a problem with some of the plant products regarded as superfoods, especially spinach, almonds, and chia seeds. Those are some of the worst in oxalates, and I've eliminated them completely from my diet.

I'm more like a veggie and beans based diet, mixed with meat ( I like kebab and kofte haha) and olive oil almost in everything:) and I eat fruit and honey often, and avoid sugar as much as I can.

I can't tell which one is better, but I think go for the ones that works for you, and not just diet, air, water and the environment is also really important too!

As far as I can tell the "vegetables are poison" thing is a garbled version of the finding that vegetables produce compounds to discourage animals from eating them. The problem with the poison claim, is that we adapt to those compounds.

It's also too broad of a claim, because many plants rely on being eaten in order to propagate. Those plants are adapting to be more appealing rather than more repellant.

I guess that depends on their definition of "inside job", which is open to a modicum of interpretation. I found it more shocking to see one fellow explicitly say 9/11 was not a controlled demolition. Which is just... well, stupid.

That's the kindest word I can think of for that statement. The science behind the controlled demolition explanation is iron clad, and anyone claiming otherwise is a bad actor, or a complete fool.

One Theory I Believe

The earth is [probably] flat. A lot of what I've seen leads to me believe that it's likely flat, but if it isn't, the current model is definitely not what we're told it is. When I finally saw [what I perceive to be] the truth, it finished off the breaking of my worldview and my belief of the afterlife.

People often ask, why would they hide it? Because if the world is flat, the plane is either infinite or it's finite, meaning it must have been created. Realizing you've been put here for a reason, instead of by random chance, drastically changes how you view the world. It did me.

By the way, this is not a topic I will debate about. I used to make fun of people for most conspiracies, including this one, but I've seen so much now that I know the current model is broken. It's basically the mother of all conspiracies.

One Theory I Do Not Believe

The whole "birds aren't real" thing. I've shot enough in the past that, sooner or later, I would have had to come across a robot or whatever they say birds are.

Chem trails is one example. Yeah, the CIA in the past did experiment with spraying chemicals over cities. I forget the name of the program and which city it was. But, the common theory is that all the con-trails you see from aircraft in the sky are chemicals being sprayed on the population to keep them under control. A program of that size would be pretty hard to hide and honestly it more likely that straight up propaganda is more effective.

Maybe the conspiracy is to make the group that believes in chemtrails look so ridiculous that no one will believe anything they ever say again. So one day, chemtrails may indeed become a reality because we already "debunked" their existence and anyone who thinks that they are now real and brings it up is immediately silenced; cast out of society or doesn't even bring it up because they know no one will believe them

This isn't theory. Its been done by the FBI I believe. I forget the guys name but there was a UFO researcher that was monitoring a military base and the gov was concerned he was going to leak secrets by mistake. An FBI agent was assigned to him to feed him false info so that he would get off the trail. They drove the guy crazy. I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the documentary about him. I believe the FBI agent was in the film.

Then there's was the CIA to the Soviets during the cold war. They made fake documents and spread them in the USSR. That one backfired though. Another US agency found the documents and thought they were real. They showed them to Reagan telling him look at how advanced the Soviet's weapons systems are. We do live in a post fact world. I firmly believe facts don't matter in the current political environment and arguing about them is a complete waste of time. Though it can be entertaining. I know a simple test you can do. Go to the beach with cheap binoculars and observe a boat 10 miles away and how the bottom of it is hidden behind the curve of the earth. One of the flat earthers favorite claims is that this doesnt happen so i guess none of them into this even tried?

Flat earthers make me sad. Only for the reason that wayyyy back when, before we had the ability to go into space, see the earth shape or explore every other planet (also sphere) we can see or even understand gravity and why that would make the word round … before all that people had ideas, dreams, stories and myths. Lack of understanding made led to this.

Now when we discovered all these other things ourselves some people just can’t adapt enough to let old fallacies die. Much like religion/god.

So for that I feel sad that people can’t evolve - hey it happens - genes, mutations, intelligence (or lack off) all die off in evolution. It’s still sad tho. With the effort we have put into the world to raise education and make it better we are still stuck with people and ideologies that hold us back.

Imagine where we would be if we didn’t have hundreds of years of the dark ages stopping science and philosophical growth….

I see a badly damaged building with standing walls. Also, I was being too glib in my prior comment. My understanding is that Building 7 was constructed differently than those other buildings and should have been more sturdy than them, not less.

It's fine with me if you're convinced by your theory of what happened. That might be all there is to it, but there are other oddities with building 7 that aren't present with those other buildings. It's enough for me to feel like there's more to the story than has been acknowledged.

I have a loose theory that there seems to be a deterioration in the CGI of Hollywood Movies. Nothing looks remotely real anymore, whether this is just a bias on my part idk it could be a lot of factors (inflation etc.)

I tend to think the deep state is far more subtle. TV producer Norman Lear created an org that writes scripts to push messages on audiences. I don't know of any connection between Lear(who died this year) and the CIA but its just one example of what you are talking about.

The other important thing about "the Great Reset" is that its not a theory. It is a conspiracy though not a new one. All WEF are is a marketing arm for world elites. The idea that this is not the case is frankly absurd. Many make it sound spooky because it make their conspiracy theory videos more interesting. This is a tactic that Alex Jones has used for years. Take facts that are rather dull and boring yet true. Then sensationalize them. It is kinda smart. Not only does it make them more entertaining it also can protect the person from being targeted. That is until they are a threat to the system. Alex got to much traction. I am annoyed with how he exaggerates. He is no dummy though.

The more I've thought and looked at the whole CBDC's thing the more boring it is. Its gonna happen. In some ways it already exists. Right now its just splintered. If you use Visa, SWIFT, or ACH you are on the system. The banks and governments will add new tools like FEDNow to the system and everyone will be using them. The dollar will not be replaced. It will just be how people use dollars.

So, my thought is ignore CBDCs and focus on bitcoin adoption/circular economies. CBDCs are the new "cashless society" meme. People hear about and get all emotional but do nothing about it. This is one of the things that annoys me about people that get to into conspiracy theories. They get distracted in figuring it all vs. freeing themselves from it all.

The thing I can't get past is believing that the politicians claiming to believe and caring about it actual do believe it. They don't. They all seem to be phonies to me. I don't buy that they buy it. But that's pretty much the case across the board for politicians. They believe in getting votes and power. Every solution to climate change involves giving douchbags more power and taking away the freedom of plebs. Often plebs in developing nations that are being robbed of the blessings of free markets that have made the west prosperous.

I also don't buy that anyone knows how much human activity is contributing to climate change. Or even if it is in-fact a net negative for humanity. I am all for reducing pollution and farming and living in a more sustainable way though. I share many of the same goals and methods with those I disagree with. Its frustrating how polarized it all is.

Like other issues if you don't buy the full narrative your labeled a slur and written off. Its anti science and anti intellectual. This also contributes to my skepticism. Regenerative farming practices and responsible use of resources are things everyone should be in favor of. Both of these problems are largely coming from fiat excesses. Short time preference. Like the food supply farming has been driven into its direction by chemical companies and the many products they produce to make things faster and cheaper but the long term affects are negative.

Also good point. It's sometimes hard to even know what people are discussing. Seems like most of the times, they are just talking past each other and not really listening to the other person. This goes back to the nuances we mentioned in another comment thread here.

I recall early on during Covid when I was somewhat concerned about it. I remember realizing the politicians in my state were really concerned. Then a few weeks later it became clear they were no longer concerned but were faking it. Then a few weeks later we had proof. Newsom was sighted at one of his restaurants without a mask breaking his own rules. There were many such cases. I don't trust liars. I don't trust hypocrites. I do my own research. I've spent way to much time listening to politicians and silicon valley spin so I have a finely tuned BS detector.

Why do I still believe the landing happened then? When I was in college we reflected a laser off of the corner reflectors that were left on the Moon. On it's own that's sufficient evidence to me. I also subscribe to the view that the landing itself would have been to big of an operation to just be a hoax.

Basically, I don't see any compelling holes in the Moon Landing story the way I do with the Moon Landing footage.

It's been a while since I've looked into it, but the official story is that they lost the original footage (I don't remember if it was recorded over or just thrown out). One of the space walk photos is clearly a mirrored version of an underwater training exercise picture that was also publicly released.

Basically, it's beyond belief to me that the original moon landing footage was accidentally lost. I also find it beyond belief that they would only fake one photograph, if they were going to fake any.

The theory that makes the most sense to me is that they knew photographic evidence would be destroyed by radiation (and maybe that they couldn't live stream video from that distance), but they also knew how badly the public wanted to see it, so they fabricated all the promotional materials.
