Zap to Zero Day 14
I was at multiple crossroads yesterday. I did my open meditation at one. That must have looked stupid to onlookers but that was kind of the point. To make myself aware of everything around me; including myself potentially looking stupid but doing it anyway.
I always struggled with making decisions. I used to say I play Terran in Starcraft 2 because they require good decision-making skills. However, IRL, I struggle a lot. I can stand in front of cupboards in grocery stores for hours; trying to figure out what I want in life. But I think I just like to take my time to plan my actions to prevent myself from doing something so stupid that I might not be able to recover from that — when I have the time. Time that you don't have in a RTS game like Starcraft 2 when your opponent attacks you from multiple angles with small forces (which is actually such a Terran thing to do) and you're trying to select the right unit composition to defend without overreacting since you still wonder: Are these all just traps? Where is the real attack?

I tried to zap to zero before sleeping but while doing it, I must have forgotten what I was doing and feel asleep anyway before hitting zero.
It was also one of those days where I planned to "simply" pull an all-nighter to unshift my time zone but fortunately, I went to sleep anyway. And I woke up earlier anyway.

Recent Superzaps
1. What is fedimint to you?
@TonyGiorgio recently founded ~fedimint and immediately noticed how bad the UX around territories really is. Founders currently don't even get notified when someone posts in their territories but that should change soon.
But that didn't stop him from creating this post to ask everyone what Fedimint is to them. I liked reading through the comments but only read a few so far since there are so many: 66 comments is not too shabby. I will read more of them today since my knowledge of Fedimint is definitely lacking.
When I was in btc++ in Berlin last year, people from Fedimint and Cashu collaborated on the E-Cash Hackday. They presented their protocols to each other (and the other attendees) and learned from each other. It was interesting to see the differences and similarities in the two approaches. And I have to admit, that was my first point of contact with Fedimint. I think I didn't even knew that guardians existed in the protocol before the presentation.
Unfortunately, when it came to actually hacking something together, I accidentally deleted my stacker.news repository on my home machine because I ran a bad
rsync command. I copied it from another script that I regularly use to sync files between machines but it included --delete. And since my stacker.news repository on my Thinkpad T420 was basically empty, Linux did its thing, respected my commands without mercy and promptly deleted everything that didn't exist on my Thinkpad. Classic Linux experience [0].That didn't stop me from taking this picture though:
2. Cowboy Hat Reform
@Undisciplined summarized all kind of ideas that were mentioned in the past around the cowboy hats.
My favorite comment that I just found and what was exactly what I thought when I read through the comments before:
I just noticed the irony of seeing an engaged debate of rare hats, while many of the debaters are upset about rare sats ;)
3. We Are So Early - Finacial "Experts" Are Clueless
@kepford got right to the heart of the matter:
Was watching a recent clip of Bloomberg Business and it occurred to me that I could just randomly pick a stacker on this site and they would have 10 times more knowledge about bitcoin that the people on the financial networks. Its not just that so many experts are wrong about bitcoin. Its that they do not even attempt to understand it. They don't know what they don't know yet. In the coming weeks there are gonna be thousands of new "experts" trying to put themselves out there as authority figures. Get ready for a not of BS guys. Its gonna get deep real quick.

4. Taking the ETF temperature on Hacker News
@elvismercury did something (that he does "from time to time") that more of us should probably do. He looked up what HN is thinking about the upcoming Bitcoin spot ETFs (or are they already approved yet? I didn't really follow the drama.) and tried to counter their arguments in his head:
An exercise I engage in from time to time is to read HN comments on a btc-related post to see what some really smart, tech-savvy, and ambitious people think about it. Spoiler: they overwhelmingly hate it, for assorted reasons. So then, in my mind, I see if I have rebuttals to their critiques.
5. Why I'm Bullish 1: Bitcoin is a Hurricane
Another post from @kepford. He's starting a series about reasons he's bullish on Bitcoin. I want to think that I might have inspired him with this series here but I guess it doesn't really matter. All that matters is that these are his personal reasons:
These posts will be things that clicked for me along the way. I'm not going to be exhaustive in this series because there are many articles out there that do that better than I will. This is gonna be personal.

[0] You are not an experienced Linux users until you had to reinstall your OS from scratch multiple times because you ran some stupid commands which deleted critical files. This is similar to how people say that a prerequisite of being a skateboarder with experience is to have broken your bones multiple times while skateboarding.
