Howdy there, partner! Welcome on into the Stacker Saloon.

Saddle on up to a stool and spill the beans about your day, fire away with them questions, or let loose and give us the lowdown on your wild and woolly life. We're all ears, so don't hold back!

We're open round the clock, so mosey on in whenever you please!

For those Cowboys and Cowgirls that missed it... today we have improvised the first survey on @SN. Yep! A set of polls to help us understand the relation between Money, Bitcoin and Emotions.

You'd like to help us with your anonymous contribution?

We are so obsessed with conserving nature and the environment that we forget to conserve ourselves and civilization as a whole :) Just wait and see :)

You can take action today by growing some of your own food, learning how to potentially forage, and preserve food for long term. Bitcoin is not going to change whats coming.

I tried the cross posting feature from SN to Nostr and it's a bit broken.
First I got error from some relay, but the error message wasn't clear if I should care or not, I think I retried posting, which created duplicate nostr post :(.
The post is on SN, but on nostr I don't know how to find it. It showed up for a while on my Amethyst.

reply

We're using NIP-23 since SN allows edits for 10min after posting and afaik, these are the only events that allow edits.

But unfortunately, nostr clients like Primal and Snort don't show kind 30023 events, only kind 1 (short text notes). Your note should show up on clients like habla.news though. Not sure why it showed up on Amethyst only for a while.

You're not the first one (and very likely not the last one) who got confused by this. I got confused by this too.

It might make sense to repost as kind 1 when the edit timer ran out. And/or mention somewhere that these aren't published as short text notes.

update: mhh, okay, can't find it on https://habla.news/nout πŸ€”

Note id should be note1a5rpn5slsc4aydaxf46yr94fzjt8knjxk5kwqjxgv3jwgdcjmanqt3w43j according to SN.

Seems like some territories disappeared. I suppose this means their monthly payment was missed? I was expecting those territories to still be visible but no longer postable?

I'm curious: which LN address ( I mean from which wallet ) did you attach to after the new release?

in our first step toward a half-custodial wallet, you can configure autowithdrawals to a lightning address; visit your wallet, then click attach wallets and the rest should be straightforward

I was thinking about which wallet would be the best for it, here was what came to my mind:

a. these sats are kinda public, I wouldn't want to mix them with my private sats.

b. Zeus LN wallet fee is expensive.

c. I don't want to put too many sats in Blink, as I didn't register the account there.

d. If withdrawing them to Alby, I might better just keep it in SN! as both are custodial wallets.

I ended up thinking I might use my Voltage node for it since it's both public, so it is easier for me to sort things out later, and it comes with a handy LN address. πŸ€”

how about you, did you find a better solution?

reply

I might keep doing it manually until I find better solution:) And isn't using an LN invoice more private than with an LN address?

reply
And isn't using an LN invoice more private than with an LN address?

Yes, if you use a LN invoice instead of a LN address, there is no domain that you're linking to yourself. But I think that's it.

reply

and which wallet did you attach to, if it's okay to share? πŸ‘€

reply

None, I don't withdraw my sats because of Z2Z. But I also didn't withdraw sats before. It must have been a long time.

@benthecarman Is the source code for https://app.thebitcoincompany.com/giftcard open source? I found a label discrepancy that I was potentially interested in fixing but AFAICT the repo is not here?

reply

No it's not open source

reply
reply

The labeling isn't done on the website either way, that's all in the backend

It was the discrepancy between β€œLogin” and β€œSign in” throughout the site

Howdy Stackers!

Happy Sunday.

reply

Shouldn't stackers be notified when a poll ends ?
cc @sn

reply

i wish they had this feature on twitter...

reply

They must have some unknown reason for not doing it. I think it makes perfect sense to notify the people who participated.

reply

It's just 24 hours from when it was posted, right?

reply

Yes. I think it is already planned to edit the poll duration. I don't know if the end notification is planned.

reply

We should do both:

  1. allow setting duration
  2. notify OP when their poll is over
reply

Shouldn't all poll participants be notified?

reply

This should be opt-in IMO

All this privacy talk got me thinking. I wondered why @ekzyis cc'ed @Natalia. I looked at Natalia's profile and noticed she has no visible cowboy hat streak. Now, who knows more about SN rewards than Natalia? I assume she zaps like crazy. Have stackers begun to intentionally time their zaps to avoid a cowboy hat for greater privacy?

haha, no, just nice to be underwater like @nemo.

@nemo and I decided to hide hats as a bit of an experiment.

reply

There is a privacy setting to hide hats

Streak is hidden by hiding from top stackers iirc

reply

I know, but the longest streak is still visible, or at least it was not long ago.

Today is my 20th day with the cowboy hat. My first day where the first digit spells β€˜2’!

I don’t know why I feel different, but I just feel elated. Perhaps I should post about my elation tomorrow on Day 21 because of its symbolic significance. But my elation is already felt on Day 20

I don’t know why I feel different, but I just feel elated.

A 20 day streak is pretty good! Streaks in general feel good, I would say. I think because we realize in these moments that we might have more control over our lives than we thought. We can change habits if we really want to!

I read somewhere that new habits are established after 6 weeks. That's when you don't even think about having to do them. You just do them (without thinking about it). So you're at almost half-time now :)

reply

You are too kind! I just Googled - seems that it takes people 66 days on average to form a new habit. But I will make it to the 33 day mark! Haha πŸ’ͺ

reply

Yeeep, after 21 days new habits are established, it definitely seems that this number hides something interesting, it is said that 21 grams is also the weight of our soul, I think satoshi also knew something about this right?

reply

Reminds me of what I heard about learning to play guitar. You repeat certain finger patterns over and over until it seems your fingers are just fretting the right strings without your brain telling them to.

reply

How long did it take for you to achieve this automaticity with playing the guitar, you reckon?

reply

First of all, I'm not a great guitar player. It's hard to place a time frame on it. I have been playing off and on since high school, but I started taking it seriously 10 years. To get muscle memory for me took a lot of repetition. What's amazing is that once you have it, it seems permanent.

reply

I played some piano yesterday. Felt good when I found the finger pattern again and I could basically close my eyes since just listening to the sound tells me if I am wrong or right and how I need to adjust.

One of the best feelings ever :)
