Howdy there, partner! Welcome on into the Stacker Saloon.

Saddle on up to a stool and spill the beans about your day, fire away with them questions, or let loose and give us the lowdown on your wild and woolly life. We're all ears, so don't hold back!

We're open round the clock, so mosey on in whenever you please!

I’m listening to “The Art of Seduction” audiobook by Robert Greene and while it’s all very illuminating and fascinating to hear stories about how historical figures used to seduce and to be seduced - and the things people did for love and affection - I can’t help but wonder, if and to what extent these things happen nowadays? Almost always grandiose, passionate, and often - desperate - attempts to win someone’s love? Or have we numbed ourselves to the point where most people aren’t even capable of feeling such intense emotions, let alone to acknowledge or express them?

reply

What is the best lesson you learned from the book?

reply

Haven't finished yet + there was a significant gap between some chapters when I wasn't listening to it for a while. But I'll think about that again once I finish it and then hopefully I'll remember to get back to ya :)

reply

Hi, everyone,

I was working on revising my school's course materials and wanted to create notes centered on getting students to grasp the grammatical affixes, such as -s, -ed and -ing. I felt that it was vital for students to get a solid grasp of their tenses so that they have a clear idea of the time references / orientation in regard to time. However, my colleague felt that time should be devoted to highlighting various common affixes, such as -ful, -ly and -ness, so that students are empowered to unpack the meaning of unfamiliar words (when they understand the meaning of affixes).

I would like to convince my colleague to spend more time and energy on the grammatical affixes. Hence, could any enlightened educator out there give me convincing reasons as to why students should know their tenses well?

Thank you for your time!

Had some energy boost today, sharing is caring! ⚡️

I went back to one master who made the best çiğ borek I had ever eat, and I met his daughter this time, then I said your dad made the best çiğ borek! She then said: my dad gets up at 3am every morning and starts preparing and then goes home at 11pm every day. He even doesn't go to cousin's birthday because he prefer working in the shop, and he learned this craft from his grandpa about 7 years old, he then started to work on his own at 20+, and now he's 65, looks seemly healthy and works really sharp! and he said he will die soon if he stops doing it. 😳

I think people who find out what they love to do and focus all their time into it are the luckiest ones.

Hi People, nice reading you all.

I was super excited to post lots of news or discussion in the visperas of the halving, but I've got a flu and I closed almost all communications for a week since I didn't have energy to read nothing.

It was like sleeping and waking up, with a halving in the middle (that only occurs every 4 years). In perspective you remember the price of btc since then and now at 66k and it doesn't matter at all, all the fluctuancy that may had happened in the middle. Long term is the king.

Hope to recover my previous participation when I have full strength. In the meantime I'm watching the effects of the halving... The mempool fee was on fire I see.

I hope you are feeling better, I look forward to what you share in the future.

Hello Stackers!

The Triumph of the InfiniteThe Triumph of the Infinite

I got up in the night and went to the end of the hall. Over the door in large letters it said, “This is the next life. Please come in.” I opened the door. Across the room a bearded man in a pale-green suit turned to me and said, “Better get ready, we’re taking the long way.” “Now I’ll wake up,” I thought, but I was wrong. We began our journey over golden tundra and patches of ice. Then there was nothing for miles around, and all I could hear was my heart pumping and pumping so hard I thought I would die all over again.

No so much disprovable as there's just no sign of it anywhere other than as a forwarded image. Senators release these things as publicity things, so the fact that nothing turns up in Google (and her name is misspelled) makes it feel too good to be true. Would be fine (somewhat) to learn it's real.

ScholarshipScholarship

The official meaning of the word scholarship refers to academic study or achievement within learning at a high level.

It can also refer to a grant or payment to support the student’s education.

However, the word scholar is from the Ancient Latin word “schola”, meaning “school”, which led on to the Medieval Latin word “scholaris”, meaning “pupil”.

Learning, education and schooling are not the same thing.

  • Learning: the cognitive process of acquiring new skills or knowledge, usually self-taught. Learning is a lifelong process and requires self-study.
  • Education: knowledge and information acquired through instruction or coaching, usually passed on from your ancestors.
  • Schooling: instructed to follow a curriculum, program or doctrine, involving punishment if not followed. The opposite of self-study.

Being schooled is not an education.

Further to this, you must consider the one offering the scholarship and payment therein, and question their motives and what strings are attached?

For example: a student would receive schooling to become a doctor, and once completed would then require a licence from a higher authority to practice the program, under conditions.
