reply

reply

Was a shocker that’s for sure.thinking I can just do what I could straight up ha ha

reply

So I had my first run on Monday Nice and steady listening to a podcast also detoured and picked up a free surfboard

Today tried to do a work out 2x 800m with 3 mins recovery at target 5k pace (4 min kms) Absolute disaster got to around 4:15 pace at my fastest felt like I was about to die pulled the pin at 400m had my three minutes then went for broke again felt like a turtle I was going so slow pulled it up at 400m as well then walked jogged the block licking my wounds

Humbled apparently I can’t run 4 minute km pace second run back in the saddle.

(Proof of run to come once my Garmin will connect) More to come!

@BitcoinIsTheFuture sorry mate I’ve dropped the ball on this one but room to sort it out in the coming weeks! How are you running this week

@TheWildHustle how’s your runs going ?

reply

Just 2 miles testing the app, need to fix the distance tracker again.....

reply

Ha yeah. Keep at it, days on and off become contagious. I did my first speed workout in a few months (battling really bad plantar fasciitis & a heal spur), but I’ve got the 5 year streak of running at least a 5k daily outside, so I’m battling through it. I’ve been averaging 35-40 mile weeks. I’ll be doing some 5k’s come spring!

reply

Nice work what was your run today ?

reply

You are way, way, ambitious trying to go 4min/km (even though for a relatively short 800m) on your second run back after a long hiatus from running. I know it's a speed workout, but maybe try 5min/km first? Take the time to train up to 4min/km. I'm sure with sufficient training, you can still do what you did back in highschool, but maybe not on the second run back, haha.

reply

Yes I’ll adjust my expectations after this has been a couple years around Covid times I was pretty good shape fitness wise see if we can get back

Shouldn't be hard to get back into shape if you used to run. Especially if you ran when you were young. Good luck and happy running!

reply

Yeah I got right into in for a few years around 8 years ago did a marathon and a heap of shorter events was fun and hard

reply
reply

Great job

reply

Looks good. I'll try it out on my runs next week. Do you support auto Garmin upload?

reply

Nope, and its still early in development, but a zap.store release is around the corner.

Should I look into Garmin stuff?

reply

Garmin data sync would be nice

reply
31 sats \ 1 reply \ @gnilma 30 Mar

Agreed. It's more of a selfish request as I use a Garmin watch to track my runs. I usually leave the phone at home if it's 10km or shorter and go watch only. So Garmin data sync would be really nice.

I think a lot of runners use either Garmin or Apple watch, so data sync for either or both would probably be welcome by these users. Maybe something for the future if you already got your roadmap set.

reply

I was toying with the idea of using an open source fitness tracker.

Potentially allowing users to build one themselves, as a part of the whole DIY open source hardware ethos stuff.

Build a fitness tracker ring similar to building a seed signer.

And I want to give runners the options to store run data in nostr relays and blossom servers.

That way if someone comes out with a better running app on nostr, you can import your run data to the other app.

How’s your weeks running been @gnilma ?

I was on a short vacation and just got back yesterday afternoon. Did go for my usual 10km run last night. It was a lot warmer, not raining, and I was finally running in shorts. So I was able to push the pace a bit. Finished 10km in just under 54mins at a pace of 5:23/km. Below is the Strava stats crop out.

Will try to do my short run Thursday night and my long run Sunday morning. Hopefully the weather holds and I will be able to run both wearing shorts. Running in shorts make a pretty big difference for me.

reply

Nice work. Shorts running is all I know!

Forward! Let’s go!

Nice! You're starting to pick up the pace.

I need to go for a run later tonight too. Was supposed to go last night, but got lazy and skipped it. Will post results after the run later tonight.

reply

I meant to get out yesterday but life got in the way ! Look forward to seeing your run

reply

I should start posting my runs here too,

Great run man!

reply

Please trying to have a weekly page with everyone reporting in on there runs ! For encouragement and accountability

reply

A weekly page in the app?

I was thinking individual chatrooms similar to stacker news territories for run clubs.

The RUNSTR feed pulls in Running related nostr notes and i've just got it back working again in the app.

I Need to continue testing the run tracker but once its in ok shape, I'll release the project on zap.store.

reply

I was just talking about on SN but yes I like what your doing with Runstr it’s going to be great once it’s ready

reply

Ah, I see.

Sounds interesting, might do it.

reply

Just post them in this thread I’ll do a new one tomorrow for next week

reply

Ran with an old work buddy today. He’s getting there to Bitcoin lol.

reply

Big run!

Your yearly stats are wild.

reply

lol I used to be a marathoner and put in some 120-140 mile weeks.

reply

I've only ever done a half,

I cant see myself hitting 100 miles in a week,

I should definitely hit a marathon though.

reply

Worth doing at least one! What times you hit for marathon @BitcoinIsTheFuture

reply

2:27. I ran in the U.S.A. marathon development program and tried to hit 2:22 to run in the Olympic Trials. Was in the top 100 overall in NYC, Boston, and Chicago. So I have tons of tips. Just ask!

reply

We are lucky to have you in the club!

Have you stopped marathon training or will you give it another crack?

reply

Ha thanks. Retired might do an Ironman when I’m 50. With a 6&7 year old I don’t have time to train that much anymore. I had to run LOTS of miles to max out my God given talent, where other gifted runners could get by on less. I was an average division 3 college runner and had no business running that fast. Proof of work and mental toughness got me there!

Yeah if your legs can handle it. It’s an amazing experience and a mental battle!

reply

Ah whoops I read that wrong it’s your week total I first thought you punched that out one go!

reply

Ha yeah I usually max out at 10 for a long run now but have averaged 5-6 miles a day for years.

reply

I'm getting pretty motivated, proof of work will be posted!

reply

Yes, focus you got it!

reply

Look forward to seeing you win

reply

Nice work look forward to seeing your progress

reply

Ha, I’m 45 and on the decline. Trying to break a 5 min mile and 17:30 for at least for another year or two.

reply

You’ll do it! You have experience and the strength from the years of work

Solid long run !

reply

Todays run warm up 2 x 800 with 3 min recovery warm down

3:53 , 3:58

Heaps better then last week!

@BitcoinIsTheFuture @gnilma @TheWildHustle @realbi

reply

I’m in a race to get abs by the end of 2025!!

reply

Ran 5km. Almost didn't go because I was watching Severance. But I told myself I would get shamed here if I didn't go run, so I went.

Pushed the pace a bit more to get my heart pumping a bit faster. Had a hard time staying on pace though, because my legs were super tired from back to back 11hr work days. Next one will be Sunday long run.

reply

Awesome work! Nothing like a night dash!

reply

A 25 minute 5k is pretty much my target.

Nice run.
