pull down to refresh

This week we head to Dawson Falls located in Wells Gray Provincial Park, BC. We visited Wells Gray in March of 2022, during which time the park was still mostly covered in snow. Wells Gray is known for waterfalls and we originally planned to visit 3 of them, Triple Decker Falls, Dawson Falls, and Helmcken Falls. When we arrived at the supposed trailhead of Triple Decker Falls, we were unable to find the trail, so we gave up and headed to Dawson Falls. The roads in the park were plowed, but the parking lots were not plowed and we had to park at the side of the road to avoid getting our car stuck in snow. The trail to the Dawson Falls viewpoint was very short and it took us about ten minutes to walk from where we parked to the view point. Dawson Falls does not have a very high drop, but it is quite wide. There was a great amount of water rushing down the falls. The falls also seem to have been separated into two sections by the snow and ice. We found a small trail which led us down to take a closer look at the falls. As we were heading back to our cars, heavy snow started to come down; as well, daylight was starting to fade, so we had to give up visiting Helmcken Falls and drove out of the park.
The roads were plowed.
But the parking lot wasn't plowed.
Short and easy trail to get to Dawson Falls viewpoint.
Dawson Falls in sight.
The falls was separated into two parts by the snow.
First part of the falls.
Second part of the falls, viewing up close.

Another look downstream.
Heavy snow was falling down and we hurried back to our cars.

It's too much snow already. Are you in a zone of winters already. We here have some extended summers. Nice pics, BTW.

The pictures were taken back in March 2022 during our road trip passing by Well Gray Provincial Park, BC. It's actually a whole winter of snowfall that have not melted away yet. I think there haven't been much if any snowfall at the park yet this fall, but that park is located relatively north, so it gets quite a bit of snowfall each winter.
