I visited the Grand Canyon South Rim way back in 2019 with a few of my friends. We rented a car from Las Vegas and drove over to see the South Rim. It was a pretty long drive, about 4 hours each way. Our first stop was by the visitor center near Mather Point. It was my first time there and as soon as I saw the canyon, I was blown away by its size and by the view. We took a short walk along the Rim Trail, chatting and snapping photos as we walked. We reached Yavapai Point, visited the Yavapai Geology Museum, and then made our way back to our car. We decided to drive further east to visit Desert View Watchtower and also to catch views of the canyon further east. The views at Desert View Watchtower was quite similar to Mather Point / Yavapai Point. We also ascended the tower and looked down from above. Eventually, we had to leave because it's another 4 hours drive back to Las Vegas. I'll let the photos do the talking. Also, these photos really don't do the canyon justice and you should really go see it in person if circumstances allows you to do so. The views of the Grand Canyon is quite something.
First glimpse of the canyon at Mather Point.
Lots of people on the viewing platform. Notice the size of the people versus the size of the canyon for size comparison purposes.
We took a walk towards Yavapai Point and took these photos.
Very grand.
Model of the Grand Canyon inside Yavapai Geology Museum.
We reached Desert View Watchtower.
View at Desert View. Notice the bird near the top of the picture. It might be an American bald eagle, I'm not sure though as I don't remember exactly.
More canyon views at Desert View.
We were about the enter the watchtower.
Decorations / drawings inside the watchtower.
Looking out from atop the watchtower.
Another look at the watchtower before heading back.

Wow amazing pics.
I take full credit for this set, as my wife was not with me on this trip and I took the pics myself, haha.
It's hard to choose the best photo today, they're all top. Great views!
Thanks! Happens when the location has amazing views.
I’m impressed by how you still remember the details of a trip from way back in 2019. Before Covid!
I think I have a pretty good memory.
Seriously...simply amazing pictures! And amazing places you've been to!
I got the number messed up again. Should be #82, not #81. Past the edit window now, oh well.
What an amazing story, my friend! I could really feel the excitement and awe as I read through it it’s like I was walking along the Grand Canyon with you.
